Dr. Raghunath Anant Mashelkar was the Director-General of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research for over eleven years, and also served as the President of Indian National Science Academy.
He is only the third Indian engineer to have been elected as Fellow of Royal Society (FRS), London in the twentieth century. He was elected Foreign Associate of the US National Academy of Science in 2005, Foreign Fellow of US National Academy of Engineering in 2003 and Fellow of Royal Academy of Engineering, UK in 1996. Dr. Mashelkar has won over 50 awards and medals from several bodies for his outstanding contribution in the field of science and technology. He has been awarded honorary doctorates by 27 universities from across the world. He is the only scientist so far to have won the JRD Tata Corporate Leadership Award. In 2011, Dr. Mashelkar was named National Research Professor by the Government of India.
Dr. Swaminathan Sivaram is Chairman of the Scientific Advisory Board. Dr. Sivaram is a polymer chemist of high distinction. He is presently the CSIR Bhatnagar Fellow at the National Chemical Laboratory (NCL), Pune. Prior to this, he served as the eighth Director of NCL, one of the largest publicly funded research and development laboratories devoted to chemical sciences from 2002-2010. As Director of NCL, Dr. Sivaram built several public/private partnerships with industry, leading to process and product development, intellectual property licensing and technology transfer.
Dr. Sivaram has over forty years of experience in basic research, process and product R&D and technology management, both in industry and academia. Dr. Sivaram is an elected Fellow of the Indian National Science Academy, Indian Academy of Sciences, National Academy of Sciences, and Indian National Academy of Engineering, New Delhi. He is also a Fellow of the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC). An alumnus of IIT Kanpur, he received his PhD in Chemistry from Purdue University in 1971. In 2010, Purdue University conferred an honorary doctorate upon him.
Dr. Shekhar Mitra is Senior Advisor for innovation strategy and business development, and a member of the Scientific Advisory Board at VYOME. Shekhar is Founder and President of InnoPreneur LLC and Consulting Partner, Yourencore, engaged in driving innovation strategies, ideation, and building innovation capabilities for CEO and President teams of several Fortune 100 corporations. Shekhar started his career at Procter & Gamble in 1984, moving up the leadership ranks to become the first Asian to become Senior Vice President of Global R&D. He was a member of P&G’s top executive team, the Global Leadership Council, before retiring last year.
In his global leadership role at P&G, Shekhar pioneered strategic partnerships in several countries and with leading institutions. He was on-ground in China starting up P&G’s well-recognized global technical center in Beijing, and executing P&G?s strategic partnership with the Government of India’s Council of Scientific & Industrial Research.
His contributions include leading the creation and development of game-changing technology platforms and innovation strategies that have resulted in well-known consumer products like Crest Whitestrips and ProHealth, Aleve Analgesic, Prilosec, Olay Regenerist, Olay Definity Skin Care and Hugo Boss Fragrances, to name a few. These innovations have created and grown major P&G brands and their equities with the help of noticeable benefits provided to global consumers fulfilling their unmet needs in a superior way. Shekhar is an alumnus of IIT Kanpur and obtained his PhD in life sciences from Columbia University, after which he was Jane Colvin Medical Research Fellow at Yale University. Shekhar has been awarded over 50 global patents. In 2010, he was awarded the prestigious Ellis Island Medal of Honor by the US Congress and listed in Congressional Records for his contributions to improving consumer’s lives through game changing Innovation, leadership and community service.
Dr. Dover graduated as the silver medalist, Magna cum Laude with an M.D. degree from the University of Ottawa. His Dermatology training was received at the University of Toronto followed by research fellowships at St. John's Hospital for Diseases of the Skin at the University of London in London, England, and a two-year Photomedicine fellowship at the Beth Israel Hospital and the Massachusetts General Hospital of Harvard Medical School. Dr. Dover was Associate Chairman, Department of Dermatology, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and Associate Professor of Dermatology at Harvard Medical School. He now co-directs Skincare Physicians of Chestnut Hill, a comprehensive facility specializing in dermatology, laser and cosmetic surgery, and he is Associate Professor of Clinical Dermatology at Yale University School of Medicine, Adjunct Professor of Surgery at Dartmouth Medical School, and Associate Professor of Dermatology at Brown Medical School. Dr. Dover's research interests are Photomedicine, lasers in medicine, cosmetic laser surgery, and medical education.
Dr. Dover is the author of over 400 scientific publications and has co-authored and edited over 40 textbooks. Dr. Dover is Past President of both the American Society of Dermatologic Surgery and the American Society for Lasers in Medicine and Surgery.
Dr. Jonathan K. Wilkin, MD, the founding director (retired) of the Division of Dermatology and Dental Products at the US Food and Drug Administration, remains active in regulatory matters after over 12 years of FDA service which included membership on the FDA’s Dermatology Drugs Advisory Committee. Before going to the FDA, he was Director of Dermatology at the Ohio State University and Professor of Pharmacology and Medicine. He has over 130 publications in dermatology and clinical pharmacology.
Dr. Wilkin received his BA and MS in zoology from Ohio State University in Columbus, followed by his medical degree from the Ohio State University College of Medicine. After a year of residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Louisville, School of Medicine in Kentucky, he completed a residency in dermatology at the University of Tennessee Health Science in Memphis, where he was Chief Resident
Dr. Wilkin has served as chairman of the medical advisory board for the National Rosacea Society from 1998 to 2012 as well as having chaired their Expert Committees on the Classification and Staging System for Rosacea. He also has served on the American Academy of Dermatology’s (AAD) Ad Hoc Task Force on the Academy’s Efforts with FDA and on their Environment and Drugs Committee.
Dr. Wilkin is a fellow of the AAD, a member of the American Dermatological Association and board certified by both the American Board of Dermatology and the American Board of Clinical Pharmacology.
Dr. Arndt is one of the premier academic clinicians in dermatology and has had a major impact on the practice and perception of dermatology both nationally and internationally. He attended the University of California at Berkeley, and then became an Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society graduate of Yale University School of Medicine, followed by training in dermatology at the Massachusetts General Hospital and the Department of Dermatology at Harvard Medical School. He was Professor of Dermatology at Harvard Medical School and Dermatologist-in-Chief at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center for over two decades. Dr. Arndt has professorial appointments at Dartmouth, Brown and Harvard Medical Schools. The Kenneth A. Arndt Professorship in Dermatology was established at Harvard Medical School in 2000 "in recognition of Dr. Arndt's many contributions to the field."
Dr. Arndt has broad clinical and clinical research interests. He specializes in the diagnosis and therapy of medical dermatologic diseases, all aspects of cutaneous laser surgery, and the evaluation and treatment of chronologic and photo-aging including the use of neuromodulators, soft tissue fillers, and multiple other energy based and adjunctive therapies. Dr. Arndt is the author or editor of sixteen books and over 300 scientific publications.
Dr. Raman Govindarajan is the India R&D Head of Sanofi-Aventis, a leading global pharmaceuticals company, responsible for developing an R&D strategy for India in line with Sanofi-Aventis’ regional and global needs including building research and development partnerships across the Drug discovery and development value chain. He is a medical doctor with residency training in internal medicine and also holds a PhD in cell biology. After this training he spent four years at Cornell University Medical College as a post-doctoral fellow in cell biology working on the cellular basis of hypertension and cloning a unique myosin heavy chain gene in muscular dystrophy. On his return to India, he joined Unilever where he had a successful stint of over sixteen years in cell biology and molecular biology of skin, focusing first on aging and then on pigmentation, irritation, allergy and tumorigenesis.
His other professional stints include research and regulatory affairs leadership positions at Johnson & Johnson Asia Pacific. Dr. Govindarajan has also been an Adjunct Associate Professor of Biochemistry at the National University of Singapore.
Prior to Sanofi-Aventis he was Senior Vice President for Discovery Biology, Development and Translational Medicine at Jubilant Biosys and Jubilant Innovation in India. Dr. Raman has published more than 100 internal scientific reports and has 24 filed patents, 25 peer reviewed publications and 45 conference presentations to his name.
Dr. Rajesh is the Ex-Director at the Institute of Genomics and Integrative Biology in New Delhi, Dr. Rajesh Gokhale received his PhD in 1996 from the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore and worked as a postdoctoral fellow at Stanford University. In 2006, he was awarded the Shanti Swaroop Bhatnagar Prize in Biological Sciences.
Rajesh is investigating how molecular repertoire in nature is generated from a limited number of genes. He has published over 40 papers in leading journals such as Nature, Nature Chemical Biology, Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences and Molecular Cell. He is an honorary faculty member of the Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research, Bangalore and a Fellow of the Indian Academy of Sciences.
